My trail name is Veggie. I am an avid hiker. I greatly enjoy hiking for months on end. If I’m not hiking, I am semi-nomatic, often taking off in my car with the majority of my possessions and living out of it, sleeping on friend’s couches, campsites, and Wal-Mart parking lots. My car has just magically shape-shifted into a van, so this lifestyle will become slightly more luxurious. I also love to hike in sandals.
I created this blog as an outlet for all of my backpacking stories through long distance trails, weeklong trips, or weekend trips. Some past adventures posted include:
- Continental Divide Trail (CDT)
- Colorado Trail (CT)
- NOLS New Zealand: Backpacking, Mountaineering, and Sea Kayaking
- Pacific Crest Trail (PCT)
- Some of the Adirondack 46 high peaks tales. I completed my 46th in 2011.
- Some adventures in Grand Teton National Park
Upcoming: Pacific Northwest Trail for summer of 2016!
Hi, Mandy! I’m the “very interesting” guy you met on both Mount Massive and Mount Elbert during your Colorado Trail thru-hike. Just stopping by to read all about your adventures and see how you are doing.
Happy trails… E.S.
Hey! I’m glad you found it! I’m still catching up on the end of the trail story, hope you enjoy!
Mandy, I’m a friend of your mom’s. She sent me the link to your BackPackerChronicles. As an old backpacker I look forward to following your trail stories!

Can you update your blog listing at Hiking-Blogs.net? http://www.hiking-blogs.net/claim-blog/
We’re fellow authors on that Stackpole collection that came out this year.
Ok! Check! I was unaware my blog was up there, thanks!
Sounds like you’ve had some great experiences. I’ll be reading through, especially your PCT posts.
Bid you two adieu at Waterton. Looks like all’s well … or better. Sorry about the passport; but behaving bears make up for it. Good luck! jim from Canmore
